Polling/recording new data for some devices

Hi all

I am an almost new user of netmri and although I went through the documentation I am not sure I found the right thing so I hope you will be able to help me here.

What I want to do is to add some fields to some devices we have, fields that should be populated via SNMP (or maybe CLI) during the normal polling of these devices. Let's take as an example, IS-IS information (adjacencies, interfaces, etc).

So far I found the Custom Fields but they seem to be added only manually (or even if done through scripts, they don't seem to be populated through the regular device polling mechanism). I have also found info on DSBs but these seem to be used for certain devices which are not normally supported by netmri. I do not want to create a new device type from scratch, I just want to add to the already existing Juniper device polling some OIDs from the MIB (or from CLI) that should be polled and recorded during the regular polling.

What would you say would be the easiest option to have this? Can I use DSBs just to add some stuff that should be queried/recorded to already existing netmri-known devices?

Thanks

Adrian

just to add to this, I found this:

It seems I could be using custom fields and have a _separate_ script populate them. However, I would prefer that this is done through the regular polling mechanism so that netmri does not have to connect twice on the same devices to get this additional data.

Thanks

Adrian

If it's data that is missing from NetMRI, I would open a case with our Support Team.

Not sure if it's actually _missing_ or if it wasn't supposed to be gathered anyway (or maybe it is gathered and I just don't know how to see it). For instance if I look at a device, in the Routing part I only see static routing or OSPF, nothing about IS-IS which we use. But I will indeed open a ticket with support to get some clarifications on the options that I have here.

Thanks

Adrian
