If one wants to merge a config snippet into a device running-config, one can use a script, including the Ad Hoc one. That approach allows one to embed NetMRI reserved variables within the statements and have them substitued by the script execution. But I want to do that with a config template.
Config templates provide a fill-in-the-blank approach that match up run-time variable values with place holders in the template, in the same way the Script-Variables accomplish that in a script. But I've yet to devise a way to embed reserved variables in a template. The editor insists on a one-to-one match.
For example, if a config snippet consists of something like...
config_statement ... $IPaddress
I can't figure how to get a) get the editor to allow it and b) cause substitution to occur at run-time.

I thought I should close this out after Sif Baksh gave me the solution via a PM.
For the particular case I was trying to solve, the answer is to use "$Device_deviceipdotted" instead of "$IPAddress".
I'm happy you could find the solution to your problem.
