RIP, Exhausted Guy

The moment is finally here. According to the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), the last unassigned IPv4 addresses in North America have just been distributed. New IPv4 addresses will now officially cease to be available.

What does this mean? That it’s time to get serious about the transition to IPv6, the nearly limitless successor to IPv4. You can learn the basics from our free white paper, “The CIO’s Guide to Growing the Business with IPv6,” and you can dive deep on our IPv6 Readiness page.

This also means saying farewell to Exhausted Guy, the IPv4 technician who simply refused to change with the times. You may remember Exhausted Guy’s tiring adventures several weeks ago, battling IPv4 exhaustion at his office. Here is a video recap of the extreme fatigue he faced, battling servers that were crashing down around him, to no avail:

Finally, a moment of silence for Exhausted Guy, whose downfall was IPv4. May he rest in peace.
