Thinking NFV? – Infoblox and VMware Can Help
In a recent Technology Business Research study, results showed that while some tier-one telecom operators have moved from network functions virtualization (NFV) proof-of-concepts (POCs) to full deployments, the majority will operate in the POC stage throughout 2016 with greater adoption happening in 2017 as they continue to work through “key questions…before NFV moves to mainstream adoption.” One of the key constraints has been the vendor community.
In the “2016 Guide to SDN & NFV – Part 4: A Status Update” by Dr. Jim Metzler, one survey question caught my eye. When asked to indicate the biggest inhibitors to their company’s adoption of NFV, three concerns jumped to the forefront:
- The immaturity of current products (22% of respondents)
- Concerns about end-to-end service provisioning with both physical and virtual resources across multiple partner’s domains (23% of respondents)
- Concerns about security vulnerabilities (23% of respondents)
Infoblox has been a leader in providing carrier-grade DNS, DHCP and IP address management (DDI) over the past decade. As our customer requirements shift to more of a focus on virtualization and NFV, we are moving to meet those requirements by eliminating the concern of immaturity of current products.
In fact, Infoblox has just received VMware Ready™ Status for NFV, which is the highest level of endorsement. You can view details at the VMware Solution Exchange. Check out press releases from Infoblox and VMware for details.
By expanding beyond DDI and Secure DNS solutions to NFV, Infoblox also helps solve the other two inhibitors. Having a single platform that can provision DNS and IP addresses for both physical and virtual resources across multiple domains lets Infoblox accelerate our customers’ transition to NFV across hybrid deployments. Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection and Infoblox DNS Firewall mitigate the security concerns by reducing the risk of the fastest-growing threat vector for service providers and enterprises.
