I'm using three Infoblox 1410 appliances; two appliances are in Data Center A and one appliance is in Data Centre B. All three appliances are part of a grid.
Currently, one of the appliances in Data Centre A is the grid master. However, if Data Centre A lost connectivity to the Internet for some reason, then is it possible for the appliance in Data Centre B to automatically become the grid master? Is the command line the only way to promote an appliance from grid candidate master to grid master?

The GMC in data center B "could" become the Grid Master but, it needs to be promoted via the command line. It does not automatically assume the role like two appliances in an HA pair configuration. I say "could" because it is a manual process.

Unfortunately, promoting the GMC to the master is a command line process and is not an automatic process like an HA pair. In your scenario, the appliance in Data Center B can be promted if the appliance in Data Center A is offline due to connectivity issues. The problem is that the third appliance in Data Center A will not be able to connect to the GM until the connectivity returns.

RichA is correct in that it's a manual process. This is by design to ensure you don't have a network related issue with multiple GMCs attempting to stand up and become GMs simultaneously. It would be very bad if suddenly you ended up with a Grid where some members looked at one GM and others looked at another GM.
GMC promotion should generally only occur if your GM is truly down and will not be returning to operation for an extended period of time. If the outage is temporary and you don't have a critical need to make immediate changes, leaving things run as-is will be just fine. The Grid is designed to be resilient that way.
