Quick question, I am doing a design that includes Network Insight, but I have never really understood what "extra" stuff it gets when using CLI discovery as opposed to SNMP discovery.
And what "extra" stuff does giving it the "enable" password above a normal login give it?
The network is Cisco and they are not interested in port control at this stage - I don't want to give it CLI access if I don't have to, especially want to avoid configuring "enable" access.
Is SNMP access enough?

CLI access allows discovery to do things like get VLAN assignments, CAM tables and any defined subnets.
you /can/ get this via SNMP, but the CLI access if often faster and more convenient.
At least, that's the short answer.
