1) We have to do registeration of vNIOS similar we do for Hardware device?

2) Customer receives email from Infoblox with production license/key to activate vNIOS?

I have up coming implementation of:

I have done installation of hardware Infoblox but this is my first Virtual appliance installation

Hi Sachin,

1) We have to do registeration of vNIOS similar we do for Hardware device?

I'm not sure what exactly you have done for the registration of hardware?

As far as I'm aware, if you download and enable the licenses, no additional steps are needed.

2) Customer receives email from Infoblox with production license/key to activate vNIOS?

Yes, the customer would receive an email including the activation ID, state date, end date etc.

Steps to activate licenses on virtual software:

The serial number of the appliance can be obtained from the CLI of appliance using 'show hwid' command. To obtain licenses from the support site, this serial number ID should be associated with the desired VM software module which you have purchased.

1. Login to the Support portal with the credentials.

2. Go to 'My Products' tab and click on to 'Activate license'.

3. Select the 'Select appliance type' as Hardware or Virtual.

4. For Virtual, select the 'VMWARE' type.

5. Enter the Serial number / Hardware ID and click 'Get license list'. Use 'show hwid' or 'show version' command in CLI to obtain the Hardware ID/Serial number.

6. The available item number, description and Activation ID will be displayed.

7. Select the quantity, 1.

8. Click on 'Assign licenses and Retrieve license keys' to update the serial number in the database. The licensesare displayed.

Best regards,

Bomi

I agree with Bomi here, You do have to register the appliance per say for its functioning. Just download the license from the support portal and have it installed in your appliance
