What exactly do you mean by "version config file"? Are you referring to doing a NIOS database restore? (In other words, download a grid database backup to your PC, and then upload it to a virtual appliance to recreate the database.) If so, you should be able to do this using a so-called "forced restore", where you're restoring the backup file to a different appliance than the one the file was generated on.

See the NIOS 7.3 Administrator Guide, chapter 10, "Managing NIOS Software and Configuration Files", section "Downloading Backup Files from a Different Appliance", p. 545. (If you're not running 7.3 check the admin guide for your version.)

This topic really belongs in the DNS/DHCP/IPAM forum.

Yes this is possible using the 'forced restore option'. Also if you are taking a grid backup and restoring it on a diffrent machine with diff IP, use the option to retain current Master's IP.

The restore will also depend on the version, if its the same version as before its just fine otherwise it should be upgrade compatible version.
