Hi guys,

I'm new to infoblox DNS Grid, and I'm looking for a way to find all unused (inactive) records within all of our DNS records in order to perform a cleanup.

if possible to quantify how much these inactive records represent relative to the active ones (% or in #).

Many Thanks.

Hello and welcome!

There is actually a feature in NIOS to do this for you. It's called "DNS Scavenging". It's actually not related to the Reporting server. Have a look at this deployment guide:

Thanks so much that is exactly what i need.

But do you know if i need to upgrade to v 7.3 to enable it? or can it be used with v.7.2 .

Thanks

The deployment guide has the following listed for prerequisites.

  • Functional 7.3 Infoblox Grid™ with a Grid Master
  • Active Grid and DNS license
  • At least one NIOS appliance acting as a Primary DNS Server
