Is there a maximum on the amount of aliases in a HOST record?

Hi guys,

My usecase is that I need to create like a few hundred aliases/CNAMEs to a single DNS record.

Is there a maximum on the amount of aliases you can set in a HOST record?

Or is it better to create seperate CNAME records in this case?

Please advise.

Cheers,

Martijn

It would be very difficult to manage more than a dozen or so aliases on a host record.  It does not appear that the list has paging, so it would be hard to update the aliases when there is a large list.  For that reason, I'd suggest using CNAME records.  You can create them quickly via CSV Import!!
