Hi Community,

Below is guide on how to delete "System-generated records cannot be modified".

The below method has succesfully  worked for me.

Whenever you configure name servers for a zone, NS, A and PTR (if PTR records are automatically created) records are automatically created.

If you wish to eliminate these, you need to remove the configuration that set them in the database. For example, if for a test.com zone you created an external secondary name server called ns2.test.com, a NS and A records will automatically be created in the zone for this name server. Removing the server from the configuration and adding the correct one will correct the issue.

If after you have corrected the configuration, old auto-created records persist, you can run the following commands to remove those stale records:

  1. 1.  SSH or console into the Grid master and run the following commands.

  1. 2.  Set maintenancemode (this command will take you to the maintenance mode).

  1. 3.  Set dns-auto-gen check (this will check for the stale records and display them).

Once this command is running, hitting 'q' will cancel it. You must page through the output screens to successfully complete this command.

  1. 4. Set dns-auto-gen renew (this will re-create the missing "Auto Created" records and remove the stale records (if any)).

Once this command is running, hitting 'q' will cancel it. You must page through the output screens to successfully complete this command.

We recommend to run these commands during non-production hours as this might take some system resources.

Thank you.
