The Secret Weapon to Secure Your Connected Devices (IoT)
The Internet of Things (IoT) Era is Real. How are You Securing IoT Devices?
If you have been following the buzzwords like the Internet of Things (IoT) or Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and skeptical about the reality of this phenomenon, you can rest assured that the IoT era has finally arrived. According to Zeus Kerravala in his article in Network World, there are currently 25 billion connected devices. The number of connected devices is expected to double by 2020 and then grow to 80 billion by 2025. Zeus is the founder and principal analyst with ZK Research.
80 billion Connected Devices by 2025
Let us internalize this piece of data for a minute. 80 billion is a huge number to imagine what it takes to manage them, especially knowing that every one of those devices will have an IP address to assign and manage. And the fact that each of those devices is possibly the potential opportunity for a cyber attack.
Suddenly, the euphoria regarding being connected will turn to concern over the security. Isn't it?
We asked Zeus Kerravala to help us understand how to secure IoT devices using DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management).
