issue after configuring HA GM

Hi everyone,

Im trying to set up a GM in HA mode using two Infoblox VM on the same subnet, but I'm running into an issue and would appreciate your guidance.

my setup:

VM1 : IP 1.1.1.2/24 GW 1.1.1.1

VM2: IP 1.1.1.3/24 GW 1.1.1.1

I connect to VM1 and began configuring it (Grid setup Wizard ) Confgure a Grid Master Name,Shared Secret Hostname, Grid master an HA pair: Yes > VRID
Vip 1.1.1.4
Node1 HA: 1.1.1.5
Node2 HA: 1.1.1.5
LAN1 1.1.1.2
LAN2 1.1.1.3

After completing the configuration and running set membership, I lost connectivity to Node1. Ican no longer reach it via its previos IP 1.1.1.2 or via the new VIP 1.1.1.4. the acces via SSH to 1.1.1.2 work

Any help or insights from those experienced with HA GM setups Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure if the IP information above is a typo or not, but Node 1 and Node 2 cannot have the same IP address for their HA interfaces. You need 5 distinct IP addresses on a subnet for an HA pair. As far as other things to look out for, they differ slightly depending on whether you are talking about physical or virtual members. From a physical perspective, you need to make sure spanning tree is not an issue (by setting portfast, port type of host, etc. depending on your networking gear). From a virtual perspective, you need to allow MAC address changes and forged transmits on the interfaces. You also need to ensure that the VRID doesn't conflict with any other that is in use on that same subnet.

I rectify that I have 5 IP adresses. It's a virtual machine. I do another test where I added this VM as a GMC cluster (HA) to a GM, which also a VM it works. However, when I tried to configure it as an independent GM, it didn't work.
there is no conflict about the VRID
