Meet Our Moderators: Josh Kuo

Welcome back to the Meet Our Moderators series—where you get to know the amazing folks behind the scenes keeping the Infoblox Community running smoothly and making sure your posts get the attention they deserve.
This week, say hello to Josh Kuo.
What's your role at Infoblox and your area of expertise?
I work in the Education department. I turn difficult protocol details into relatable stories to help people understand the technology better. I especially enjoy delivering live sessions where I interact with the audience in real time. My specialty is DNS protocol, trends and architecture.
What's a trending topic in tech that you're excited about (or skeptical of)?
I am keeping a close eye on Zero Trust DNS from Microsoft. I think it will radically change the way DNS is used in the enterprise. I am also very excited about the proposed DELEG record type in the IETF. It has the potential to fulfill the promises of DNSSEC from decades ago.
What type of questions or discussions do you hope to see more of in the Community?
As an education professional, I encourage people to ask all kinds of questions. The more questions, the better—yes, even the “dumb” ones. We all lacked knowledge at some point. Asking and answering these seemingly simple questions helps us educate the next generation, and that’s not dumb at all.
What's a fun fact most people don't know about you?
A fun fact about me is that I am not a very "fun" person, depending on how you define fun. I enjoy "boring" activities, such as reading, cooking and playing the piano. If you thought listening to me talk about DNS was boring, you should try listening to me talk about the history of measurement systems or 19th century Pacific Asian history.
What would be your dream job if you weren't in tech?
I dreamed of being a novelist or writer. I get to live out part of that dream writing about technology and DNS. With the help of Infoblox, I even got one of these books published: The Hidden Potential of DNS in Security. It’s not dragons and magic, but it’s still exciting!
Anything else you'd like Community members to know about you or how to connect?
My team publishes content on Launchpad—Infoblox's education platform—much of which is available to the public, free of cost. I also have a personal blog DNS (in)Security where I occasionally post my thoughts on various technology news and developments.
