End Devices Not Visible in NetMRI UI – Cisco L3 Switch Connected to Laptop

Hello Team,

I am facing an issue in Infoblox NetMRI and would appreciate your guidance.

NetMRI Version:

7.5.4.104695

Network Setup:

  • Cisco Layer 3 switch is added and successfully discovered in NetMRI.
  • NetMRI shows all switch information (interfaces, VLANs, MAC table, ARP, SNMP, etc.).
  • A physical laptop is connected to switch port (GigabitEthernet0/30) via LAN cable.
  • SNMP is enabled on the switch and working (NetMRI can poll successfully).
  • However, the end device (laptop/host) is not visible in any of the following sections:
    • Network Explorer → End Hosts
    • Switch Port Management → Connected Hosts / MAC Table
    • Device → Interfaces → Connected End Devices

Issue:

Even though the switch is fully discovered and visible in NetMRI, the laptop/end host connected to the switch port is not being detected or displayed

Request for Help:

Can you please guide me on:

  1. Do I need to enable any specific setting in NetMRI to collect MAC/ARP/End Host data?
  2. Is there any required Cisco configuration (e.g., IP Device Tracking, ARP timeout, port security, LLDP/CDP)?
  3. Do I need to enable Switch Port Management Polling separately for end host visibility?

Comments

  • By default you should not have to enable anything specific to see the end hosts. Unless you have explicitly disable switchport polling it will be enabled and should return the data.

In the device viewer for this router (your last screenshot) check the interfaces tab on the right. The model and version you are running are supported from a switchport perspective. https://docs.infoblox.com/space/netmri754dsl/131891407/Infoblox+Network+Infrastructure+Complete+Device+Support+List

I suggest running a discovery diagnostic against this device and review the output, if nothing stands out a support case is warranted.
