Partnering for Stronger Security: Infoblox And FireEye at RSA

So many times companies announce partnerships and it seems like they’re never again in the same room together. That’s why I’m so excited about the invitation from FireEye to join them at their booth at the RSA Conference at Moscone Hall in San Francisco next week, April 20-24.

If you don’t know FireEye, you should. They tackle cyber attacks in multiple ways – by detecting attacks as they happen, protecting against advanced persistent threats (APTs) and never-seen-before malware, and offering security incident response and assessment services through Mandiant, a FireEye company. FireEye has over 2,700 customers across 65 countries, including over 200 of the Fortune 500.  FireEye specializes in investigating large-scale intrusions performed by the most advanced threat groups, from state-sponsored attacks, financial crime and insider threats.

APTs exploit DNS in various ways – for implanting malware, propagating malware inside the network by initiating “callbacks” from devices to command and control servers, and exfiltrating data. To provide additional protection against APTs that use DNS, Infoblox announced in October 2013 an integration of our products so that information on APTs from the FireEye NX Series network security product can be used by Infoblox DNS Firewall to block DNS-based communications to malicious domains and prevent data exfiltrationThe FireEye Adapter for Infoblox DNS Firewall is the “glue” that integrates the two products, giving customers additional protection. In addition, those customers can learn from Infoblox Reporting about devices that are already infected with malware, so they can more quickly respond to threats.

At RSA, I’ll be doing a live overview of how Infoblox and FireEye work together, and of course, members of the FireEye team will be there to answer any questions about how our two products combine to help make networks safer. Join me at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22nd, at the FireEye booth N3831 in the North Hall. And to learn more about how Infoblox can help you secure your network’s DNS, visit us at the Infoblox booth 420 in the South Hall.
