InformationWeek’s DarkReading site recently published an article of mine on the importance of expanding penetration testing beyond the periphery of the enterprise network.

 

As Gartner has noted in its most recent report on technology trends, digital businesses are finding that maintaining a 100% secured environment is almost impossible, and it will be more efficient to focus on risk assessment and mitigation tools.

 

Especially with the proliferation of malware that infiltrates networks and lies undetected – until, like ET, it starts phoning home – enterprises have to think not only about guarding against unauthorized data entry, but against unauthorized data exits as well.
