Here is a dashboard that will give you the opportunity to review the DNS reply code when a client sends a DNS request (NoError, NxDomain, ServFail, Refused).
This dashboard can alert you when DNS requests don't have the expected answer, and then, help you understand why and fix the problem (create the zone, the record, a forward zone, etc.).
This dashboard will be functional given the following prerequisites:
- Have the reporting installed and functional
- Have the Data Connector VM installed for the query log report
- In the reporting properties, DNS query & DNS query capture index must be checked/enabled
- In the DNS Grid properties, ensure that the DNS response capture is checked to send to the Data Collector VM
