Hi;
How do you create a reverse DNS zone with a subnet mask other than /8 or /16 or /24? For example a /25 network.
Do you create the /25 Network in the Data Management -> DHCP and in the process you create the reverse mapping zone for it? or is there a way you can do it in the process of adding the Reverse lookup zone under
Data Management -> DNS
Kindly

Hello Wasfi,
You can create the reverse DNS zone with subnet mask of 25 by navigating to Data Management > DNS> Add Authoritative zone and select Add an authoritative IPv4 reverse-mapping zone. Then you will need to enter the network and click on Netmask and from the drpdown select 25 and use the Rfc 2317 prefix.
Do let us know if it helps.
Regards,
Manu M

Hello Mathew,
Sorry for coming in between. Is there a way to configure the mask for a reverse mapping zone, let's say /18 or /21 ?
Thanks

HI Dhanushka,
By design, we can not create the reverse mapping zone when the network mask or subnet mask does not fall in an Octet Boundry, this RFC-2317 compliant.
Please refer to KB# 315 for detailed information about this.
Regards.

So what do I enter in the RFC 2317 if I want to add a /25 network?
