What are the pros and cons to allow the recursive DNS servers "grid members" to do recursive lookups themselves by walking the DNS hirarchy from the root zone to the TLD zone to the zone itself. What is the rationale of doing this way as opposed of having these recursive servers forward the queries to an ISP DNS server?
What is the pros and cons of each situations.

If you use your own servers,
* it is one hop less
* hence it might be a bit faster
* you can not be rate limited (which appears to happen with some providers)
and why ask someone else if you can do it yourself.
