What is the best way to generate an SNMP trap on a failed policy

We have NetMRI and other systems that send traps to the main NMS event manager (MoM - Manager of Managers).

Our previous network configuration manager was able to send traps on failed configuration policies, however I can't seem to find a simple way of doing this in NetMRI.

At the moment, I am thinking that I need to create Custom Issues - as this is the only way I can find to allocate/configure SNMP Trap generation.

Then, I need to create a Triggered Job, which will be assigned to the Policy.

This in turn runs a script that is scheduled to run immediately and in the script I reference the Custom Issue.

Which then in turn, generates a trap....

Complicated or am I missing something.

Thanks

Russ

You have to tell NetMRI in Settings > Notifications > Subscriptions

To send SNMP traps for that Policy

Hi Sif,

Thanks for the update. I should have looked more closely. I was expecting it to be a Category and not an Issue.

I went through the list but not thoroughly enough. (Would be good if we could resize the window to make it easier to read - not sure if anyone has asked for this)

I do remember finding it when we installed the product but havent used it since and I have a support call outstanding to resolve an issue where the browser times out/hangs when adding new Subscriptions.

 Rgds

Russ
