Validate DNS Entries

We have a suite of NIOS DNS/DHCP/IPAM appliances as well as a NetMRI appliance. We have a requirement to validate DNS entries to ensure that all devices on our network are in DNS and any entries in DNS that are not on the network can be investigated and deleted, if appropriate.

How do we use this environment to perform a scheduled validation and produce a report of hosts on the DNS that are not valid as well as discovered hosts on the network that do not appear in DNS?

How do we use this environment to perform a scheduled validation and produce a report of hosts on the DNS that are not valid?  One approach is to create a Smart Folder for listing all IP Address conflicts.  A conflict is when the recently discovered MAC is different then the MAC currently in the database.  The discovery, conflict detection and Smart Folder update is all automatic.

How do we use this environment to perform a scheduled validation and produce a report of discovered hosts on the network that do not appear in DNS.  Smart Folders is another great use for this.  When NetMRI discovered devices that do not have an associated DNS Record or IP Fixed address will be listed in DDI as "Unmanaged"  Creating a Smart Folder for "Unmanaged" provides quick access to all reciently discovered devices that do not have a DNS Record.  You can then use the "Convert" wizard to manage these devices.  Again, all Smart Folders are dynamic and will refresh automatically.
