Domain Members Locating a Domain Controller in Disjoint DNS Namespace

In an environment using Infoblox for internal DNS and DHCP that is using disjoint namespaces do AD sites still play a role in domain members locating domain controllers? The second question, does the use of disjoint namespaces make locating domain controllers more efficient for member computers? If so how so? If anyone knows of supporting documentation to show a positive or negative effect of using disjoint DNS I'd love to see it.

I've all of the following docs but still seeking clarity on this question.
