Infoblox Community,

Since the NIOS 8.6.1 release in late November 2021, the Infoblox NIOS Product and Engineering teams have continued development of our flagship platform and are proud to announce the latest features and benefits included in NIOS 8.x. With NIOS 8.6.2 (GA June 14, 2022), Infoblox continues over two decades of investment in DNS, DHCP and IPAM so customers can deploy the most reliable, robust and secure core network services for the hybrid, multi-cloud network:

NIOS unifies multi-cloud integration and automation,

strengthens DDI visibility, user experience and control, and

delivers secure, reliable core and value-added services

for hybrid networks of any size—today and for the future.

NIOS 8.6.2 continues to deliver value through two primary themes:

  • Expanded Workplace Modernization – Multi-Cloud Integration and Automation
  • Improved Visibility, User Experience and Control – Stronger DDI, Value-Added Services and Plugins

As organizations transition traditional data centers to modern environments with increasingly distributed operations, network and DevOps teams need better tools to manage the complexities of the hybrid, multi-cloud network. NIOS 8.6.2 addresses these challenges by delivering customer-driven requests, new functionality and enhanced solutions as follows:

  • Expanded Workplace Modernization – Infoblox extends multi-cloud integration and automation with the best in enterprise-grade DDI and the widest support for virtualized and cloud environments:
    • DHCP for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – Allows DHCP in GCP to simplify cloud migration and consistency;
    • v40x5 Appliances in AWS, Azure and GCP – Broadens user experience and scalability by extending v40x5 appliances in public clouds to support high volume workflows.
  • Improved Visibility, User Experience and Control – Infoblox strengthens market leading DDI, value-added services and plugin support through:

      DDI Core

  • Multi-Primary DNS Failover for DDNS Updates – Enables DDNS failover to designated Primary servers in multiple DNS Primary zones for increased user experience and control;
  • TLS Dynamic Control for SAML Port 8765 – Allows dynamic disabling of older versions of TLS v1.0/1.1 to fortify security and control.

     Value-Added Services

  • Reporting in AWS and Azure – Permits virtual reporting members to be deployed in public clouds to raise visibility and enable cloud migration;
  • Reporting Splunk Upgrade – Aligns Reporting to Splunk 8.2.4 with Dashboard Studio for creating custom dashboards and reports for better contextual visibility and user experience;
    • Discovery for Cloud Services Portal (CSP) – Sends data discovered by Network Insight or NetMRI to the CSP for single control plane visibility through the BloxOne platform;
    • DTC Health Monitor Manual Failback – Enables manual disabling and enabling of unstable sites for maintenance without a DNS restart to advance visibility, app uptime and control;
  • MSM Microsoft Server Configuration with Delegate Name Server Group – Equips Microsoft Management to configure servers in Sites and Services using Delegate Name Server Group in thousands of zones to avoid managing each zone individually to save time and improve efficiency;
  • BloxConnect Customer Data Visibility – Displays to the customer the data collected by Infoblox support teams to improve post-implementation visibility, service and user experience.

     DDI Plugin Support

  • Ansible 1.2.1 Plugin – Supports Galaxy Collection to automate VM workloads, manage networks, IP address, DNS records and DTC load balancing for greater app availability and uptime;
  • Terraform 2.1 Plugin – Manages and automates DNS and IPAM services in VMware and Azure environments to simplify access administration, add efficiency, user experience and automation;
  • Kubernetes ExternalDNS Plugin – Allows K8s pods to create automated ExternalDNS records in vNIOS to discover, manage, automate and secure container workloads on-prem or in the cloud;
  • Nutanix 5.20.x Plugin – Provides IP address VM provisioning, automatic deprovisioning and unified management of private and hybrid cloud networks for automating virtualized workflows;
  • Red Hat OpenStack Xena IPAM Plugin – Automates IP address provisioning and deprovisioning, integrated DHCP/DNS management and synchronizes DDI visibility in the OpenStack platform;
  • Cisco ISE 3.x Plugin – Delivers contextual visibility, identity management, threat detection alerts and control across network applications, routers, switches and other devices.

Channel Partner Highlight: Network visibility, hybrid, multi-cloud network integrations, uptime, user experience and control are essential for organizations migrating to modernized environments. They drive engagement, add value, promote trust, improve ROI and generate greater revenue. NIOS 8.6.2 opens doors by delivering upgrades and tools that add and expand hybrid multi-cloud integration and automation, increase DDI visibility, user experience and control – all from the market leader in reliable, hybrid core network and security solutions.
