Add comment to IPv4Address via WAPI or some other method

I am automating deployments of VMs in our environment and want to automate adding information in the comment field to be visible via IPAM view in the management web page when each host is assigned an IP address. That way we can show change request number and date etc. when each IP address was assigned. We are using WAPI v2.11 and according to the documentation I read the comment field is not writable via WAPI. Is there another way to automate adding that information?
