Carving out Access

Greetings,

I'm part of an IT dept that is able to manage our IP ranges which is based upon sub domains.  For instance MyDept.business.com  Business.com IT department has Infoblox setup so that they give us full access to MyDept.business.com.  There is a push now to flatten our network so that all the departments will now falll under business.com.  We are told that they will no longer be able to give us access to manage our ranges within Infoblox since it is based upon sub domains.  If they do give us control, we would be able to control all of Business.com.

Question:  Is there anyway within Infoblox to allow groups (MyDept) to have full control based on IP ranges so that we can still manage our own addresses?  Perhaps there is another option I'm overlooking that would work?

Thanks much!

Our apologies for the extended length in reply.  We've contacted a couple folks internally who will respond shortly.

Thank you for your patience,

Yes, the capability was added in NIOS version 6.11.0.  You'll need that version or later in order to have this capability.  From the release notes:

New Permissions for DNS Resources
This release adds new permissions for DNS resources that have associated IP addresses in network containers, networks, and ranges so you have more control over who can perform which tasks for these DNS resources without affecting permissions defined for the networks and ranges to which these resources belong.

Best regards,

Joe Peck
