DHCP server changing the hostname as it does the DDNS

Hi;
Some of the printers have very ugly host names, while DDNS by DHCP servers is desired, can the DHCP server change the host name obtained from option 12 before updating the DNS server?
I mean can a policy be put in place on the DHCP server to change hostnames that have some common pattern into a more meaningful hostnames. For example
print1199-abc1xyz into printer1
print1199-abc2xyz into printer2
