Infoblox is pleased to announce the general availability of NIOS 9.0.5, the latest advancement of our flagship Network Identity Operating System (NIOS). Leveraging over two decades of reliable, secure and market-leading network solutions, this release enhances cloud DNS security and integration, upgrades asset discovery and visibility and improves performance and automation across hybrid, multi-cloud environments.

What's New in NIOS 9.0.5?

Solve Hybrid, Multi-Cloud Challenges

Organizations operating in today’s complex hybrid, multi-cloud environments need DNS protection and integrations for network asset discovery, visibility and consistency. These capabilities help keep applications running and support cloud agility and automation. Key upgrades include:

    Protection

  • Virtual Advanced DNS Protection (vADP) for Azure enables network uptime by providing robust, market-leading DNS protection against a wide range of DNS attacks. Infoblox vADP extends DNS protection from on-premises to Azure cloud environments. With this update, vADP is now available for major Infoblox-supported public cloud platforms, ideal for organizations with multi-cloud deployments.

    Integration

  • NIOS Read Sync with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud-Native DNS delivers improved visibility, consistency and user experience by allowing NIOS data to be read and synchronized with GCP's DNS services.
  • NIOS Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) Support for VMware on GCP adds flexibility and enhanced user experience by enabling organizations to migrate and manage on-premises VMware/vSphere/ESXi workloads to GCP, saving time and money by not having to re-architect applications.

Strengthen Critical Network and Value-Added Solutions

NIOS 9.0.5 empowers networking and security teams with robust features to protect network infrastructure, scale and automate asset discovery across large, distributed networks and substantially upgrade the performance of network traffic load balancing. Notable enhancements include:

    Protection

  • NIOS Threat Insight Upgrade enhances threat detection and resiliency, reducing false positives and improving the overall security posture.
  • Host/Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Certificate for External Syslog Servers increases visibility and security via the host/FQDN TCP certificate, lowering cost and improving flexibility by using existing Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates for external Syslog servers.

    Visibility

  • Network Insight VXLAN Discovery provides advanced visibility and control in large virtualized or cloud environments with millions of logical networks.
  • Network Insight Silver Peak (HPE Aruba) Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) Support expands discovery of Silver Peak SD-WANs using the Infoblox API and Silver Peak SD-WAN engine for improved visibility and user experience across remote, regional and global locations.

    Performance

  • DTC Performance Upgrade significantly improves DNS Traffic Control (DTC) GUI performance, enhancing user experience with faster screen response times in large-scale deployments.

Accelerate Time-to-Value

NIOS 9.0.5 simplifies and accelerates application deployment, ensuring business continuity, increasing agility and enhancing ROI. This release features a verified platform plug-in and three virtualized software (hypervisor) upgrades:

    Automation

  • NIOS Terraform IPAM Plug-In 2.7.0 simplifies control of IP address management objects in NIOS and Terraform, automating workload orchestration, improving accuracy, efficiency and accelerating time-to-value.
  • NIOS Hyper-V Support for Windows 2022 ensures NIOS compatibility, consistent user experience and business continuity for Hyper-V virtualized software running with Windows 2022.
  • NIOS Support on VMware vSphere ESXi8.0u2 provides tested and verified NIOS support for recent VMware capabilities, ensuring security and performance.
  • NIOS Support on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v9.3 solves challenges with the RHEL 7.0 end-of-life announcement and delivers consistent NIOS user experiences and continued operations for RHEL v9.3.
