#4850: Upgrading NIOS using Bin or Bin2

Resolution

The bin and bin2 files contain the same files and software. The bin2 file is signed with a longer key which provides greater protection against tampering. Upgrading using bin2 files is supported in NIOS 6.3.3 and later.

Note: Bin2 requires more CPU time to distribute and is not recommended on Grids where CPU usage is a concern. This may include 800-series and older -A appliances.
