Trouble trying to connect mySQL Workbench to NetMRI mySQL database

Not sure if this has been asked before but I am trying to connect mySQL Workbench to the NetMRI database and is failing each time. Not sure why at the moment.

I have been using HeidiSQL for sometime and wanted to move to this Workbench. 

So I know the database connection is working (i.e. User account/Password/Port 6033).

I am using the standard TCP/IP connection.

Has anyone suggestions/ideas for this?

Ok. solved the problem.

For reference for others who want to use mySQL Workbench to connect to the NetMRI database, you need to add the following to the Advanced Tab of the connection settings for the NetMRI database.

The following goes in to the "Others" field

defaultAuth=mysql_native_password
OPT_CHARSET_NAME=utf8

I have found that workbench crashes frequently but have finally got a connection.
