Hi guys,
If I have configured stub zones, forward zones and root hints, what is the search order used by NIOS?
And, if the response received is NX domain, NIOS stop trying other options?
Thanks in advance

I believe the most specific match will win. Let's look at an example.
company.com - authoritative zone on Infoblox
ad.company.com - forward or delegation zone to Active Directory
lab.ad.company.com - stub or forward zone to some lab DNS server
If a query for test1.lab.ad.company.com, the query would be forward to the lab DNS server.
If a query for test2.ad.company.com comes in, it'll be forward to AD DNS.
If a query for test3.company.com comes in, it'll be resolved by the Infoblox authoritative DNS server.
If a query comes in and does not match company.com or any other local zone, that is when the root hits or forward would be used.
Don't forget, there's a checkbox in a forward zone: Use Forwarders Only. Use this if the servers will service the entire subdomain. (as I understand it)
