Grid member cannot rejoin after reset

Hello

I work on a grid with 12 members distributed over the world, after some unfortunate setting changes to network address on one of the members we had to reset it.

Firstly i tried a reset database in order to retain network information, the member seem to establish a connection to GM but it is closed soon after. After that i gained console access and tried a "reset all" but only with the same result.

Have anyone had this problem? There is connectivity between member and GM via ping, anyone got any ideas?

It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky situation. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take: myloyola

  1. Check Network Configuration: Ensure that the network settings (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) are correct and consistent with your grid configuration.

  2. Firewall and Security Groups: Verify that any firewalls or security groups allow traffic on the necessary ports for communication between the member and the GM.

  3. Logs: Look at the logs on both the member and the GM for any error messages or warnings that might indicate what’s going wrong when the connection drops.

  4. Version Compatibility: Make sure that the member's software version is compatible with the GM. Sometimes mismatches can lead to connection issues.

  5. Service Status: Check if all necessary services on the member are running. Sometimes, a service might not start correctly after a reset.

  6. Reconfigure the Member: If you can access the console, try reconfiguring the member from scratch, ensuring all parameters are correctly set.

  7. Timeout Settings: Look for any timeout settings that may be causing the connection to close prematurely.

Best regards,

Here is what i did to get it up and running again.

Changed IP settings on the trouble-member in grid to some humbugg-IP

Created a new member using the old ip-settings.

Once again tried to join the grid with the troubled member and it worked fine.

With that conclussion i removed both members(old and temp) from grid, did a reset on host again and recreated the member in gridview and this time it could join.

Too bad it was quite the hassle to remove all assosciations to the member before it could be deleted.
