We've gotten alerts pop up that caused some confusion with our Ops group - SNMP trap ibTrapDesc = A controld failure has occurred.
We weren't sure what controld was and documentation was sparse. Here's the response we got from support as to what exactly controld actually is:
controld is a process on the grid member that handles all the requests from the Grid Master. For example, a support bundle download request of the member is passed by the Grid Master to the member and controld is responsible for processing the request, collecting the files and synchronizing the data back to the Grid Master. It also controls uploads, upgrade, database backup and restoration etc.
Controld failure may not always be service critical. It depends on what the GM was trying to pass to the member, if any request to the member failed - the admin can always retry and see if the error persists.
