NIOS 9.0.5: Secure Discovery, Integration, and Control for the Hybrid, Multi-Cloud Environment
Coming Soon: September
Modernize Hybrid, Multi-Cloud Networks for Reliability, Enhanced Security, and Seamless Integrations
The next version of NIOS is designed to simplify and strengthen network management for today's hybrid, multi-cloud environments, starting with Virtual Advanced DNS Protection (vADP) for Azure. This feature extends powerful DNS protection to safeguard against a wide range of DNS attacks, ensuring your network is secure whether operating on-premises or in public cloud environments. Additionally, the new NIOS Sync with Google Cloud Platform Cloud-Native DNS improves network visibility and functionality by enabling seamless synchronization with Google Cloud's DNS services. If using VMware, Google Cloud VMware Engine support now allows you to easily migrate and manage VMware workloads on Google Cloud without the need to re-architect your applications, boosting productivity and efficiency.
Improve Network Protection, Visibility, and Control with Advanced Critical Network and Value-Added Solutions
The Threat Insight Upgrade in NIOS 9.0.5 offers better threat detection while reducing false positives to enhance uptime and resilience. For added flexibility, the Host Name/Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) Transmission Control Protocol Certificate allows you to improve security and reduce costs by leveraging existing Secure Socket Layer certificates for external Syslog servers. If your environment includes large virtualized or cloud networks, Network Insight VXLAN Discovery offers advanced IP Address Management visibility, scalability, and control, while support for Silver Peak (HPE Aruba) SD-WAN expands your ability to discover remote network assets. Plus, a performance upgrade to the DNS Traffic Control Graphical User Interface enhances your user experience with faster screen response times in large-scale deployments.
Accelerate Time-to-Value with DDI Plug-Ins and Integrations
NIOS 9.0.5 offers extended DDI plug-ins and integrations to fast-track application deployments. The Terraform IPAM Plug-In 2.7.0 simplifies network automation and improves IP address management while Hyper-V Support for Windows 2022 ensures compatibility, continuity, and smooth ongoing operations. To address the end-of-life announcement for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0, NIOS 9.0.5 also includes NIOS Support on RHEL v9.3, enabling consistent continuing operations. Additionally, NIOS Support on VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0u2 ensures you can take advantage of the latest VMware capabilities with enhanced security and performance.

BloxOne Threat Defense: DNS Tunnel Detection Improvements
Coming Soon: September
DNS Tunnel detection architecture on BloxOne Threat Defense Cloud and Advanced is now optimized to detect tunnels significantly faster (up to 10 times faster). The detection logic has now moved to the edge, at the local POP, and the data pipeline is further optimized to reduce enforcement time. Beyond behavioral detection, signature-based detection has been added with custom signatures for many well-known tunnels to detect them instantaneously. All these improvements allow BloxOne Threat Defense to protect customers from DNS Tunnels faster and more effectively.
BloxOne Threat Defense: Enhanced DFP Deployment
Coming Soon: Mid-September
To further enhance the performance and stability of crucial BloxOne Threat Defense services, a new second-level domain (infobloxtd.com) will be released along with additional IP addresses (103.80.6.120 and 52.119.41.120) in mid-September. To quickly and easily improve the resiliency of key Infoblox DNS Detection and Response capabilities, Threat Defense customers are encouraged to update their network configuration to enable access to the new IP addresses, the second-level domain, and all its subdomains as soon as possible.

END-OF-LIFE
NIOS 8.6: End-of-Life Announcement
Projected Date: April 2025
On April 30th, 2025, NIOS 8.6 and all its derivative maintenance releases will reach their End-of-Life (EoL) and End-of-Support (EoS) milestones. As per our published End-of-Life Guidelines and Policies, Infoblox will no longer provide updates, upgrades, code fixes, or patches for the EoL release or its derivative maintenance releases, which include 8.6.0, 8.6.1, 8.6.2, 8.6.3, and 8.6.4. Technical support and maintenance will also be discontinued. As a reminder, NIOS releases before 8.6.0 are already past their EoL dates.
Infoblox launched NIOS 9.0 in January 2023, providing customers with over three-and-a-half years of critical network and value-added solutions and support.
To uphold the standard of network reliability, security, and service you've come to expect, Infoblox highly recommends that customers move to the fully supported NIOS 9.0.1 or later releases. It would not be advisable to invest in new deployments of NIOS 8.5 or earlier, which are now end-of-life.
In addition to uninterrupted support, NIOS 9.0.1 and higher releases help you expand workplace modernization through hybrid, multi-cloud integrations and automation. These newer NIOS releases also improve network visibility, user experience, and control through stronger DDI, value-added solutions, and extended DDI Plug-Ins for greater agility and faster time to value. See the NIOS microsite for the latest information.
Further details of this software's end-of-life milestones are published in End-of-Life Announcements on the Customer Support Portal. To receive Infoblox product lifecycle updates by email, subscribe on the End-of-Life Announcements page.
