DDI Plug-In Support: IPAM Plug-In for Terraform 2.7.0

Infoblox’s latest Terraform Plug-In introduces a rich lineup of network automation and infrastructure management upgrades for greater resource efficiency, automation, and control. The Plug-In enables the latest vendor features and support through upgrades to Terraform (v0.14 to v1.8.1) and Go language (v1.17 to v1.21). It avoids manual steps when making web API (WAPI) calls to retrieve object IDs and automates the migration of legacy DNS platforms to NIOS. The Plug-In creates DNS and conditional forwarder zones. It also provides a block import feature to gather objects seamlessly through a simple command or the Go module to increase efficiency, simplify complexity, and add flexibility and control over network environments.

Cloud teams need asset discovery, resiliency, and consistency across multi-cloud and multi-account environments to keep applications running. NIOS 9.0.4 helps integrate workloads across platforms, including read synchronization with Azure Cloud-Native DNS and multi-account sync with Amazon Route 53 for improved user experience and control. NIOS enables greater reliability and application uptime with High Availability (HA) resiliency across multi-cloud platforms to avoid single points of failure. NIOS also improves visibility across cloud assets from a single control plane with vDiscovery for multi-account AWS, AWS GovCloud, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) vDiscovery for shared Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs).
Strengthen Critical Network and Value-Added Solutions
Networking and security teams are more effective and efficient with robust controls to manage automated asset discovery, instant access to contextual data, and encryption capabilities to help protect network infrastructure. NIOS 9.0.4 adds control to manage Network Insight polling frequency, accelerating asset discovery rates to save time or reducing discovery rates to avoid overloading system resources. NIOS further boosts contextual visibility by specifying source IP addresses in the web application programming interface (WAPI). Discovered device location scan now also be synchronized to IPAM for improved insights and faster issue resolution. Lastly, security enhancements include NIOS support for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) v1.3 encryption protocol to meet government and enterprise security compliance requirements.

Without tested and verified platform integrations and plug-ins, it's difficult to fast-track application deployment and ensure business continuity, user experience, and ROI. The NIOS Terraform IPAM Plug-In 2.6.0 simultaneously automates the management of objects in NIOS and Terraform user interfaces to orchestrate workloads, improve accuracy, and shorten time-to-value. In addition, the NIOS VMware IPAM 6.1.0 Plug-In streamlines and automates IP address provisioning and de-provisioning for recent vRA/vRo 8.x upgrades to deliver continuity in hybrid workloads.

BloxOne Threat Defense: RPZ Feed Revamp for Cloud

BloxOne Threat Defense for cloud now includes a new feed structure that provides simplicity, along with user friendly names, allowing users to set the correct policies and address the growing number of feeds over time. With the new structure, customers can configure their policy action correctly per their risk posture and have an “at a glance” understanding of how their network is protected. This requires updating existing policy to utilize the new feed structure. Old policies can easily be updated using the provided 'Upgrade' option. The old policy, carrying old feeds, will be supported in view-only mode until December 2024, granting time to transition to the new feed structure. No updates allowed until this upgrade is complete. The updated RPZ feed structure for BloxOne Threat Defense for NIOS was announced and released in May 2023—this new feature addresses BloxOne Threat Defense Cloud. With this July release, both on-prem (NIOS) and cloud now carry the updated new feed structure. The old feeds will be deprecated after December 2024.

Enhanced, Action-Oriented Case Updates
Thanks to the valuable feedback you’ve shared through our survey program, we are reshaping our approach to Support Case communications.
Enhanced Email Notifications
Email notifications announcing Case updates in the portal will now provide the content of the update directly in the email. This change will streamline communications, keeping users better informed and eliminating the extra step of navigating to the portal to learn what's new. To sign up for Case updates by email, select “edit profile” by hovering over the username from within the Support portal. Once in the “update profile” window, check the box to enable.
Structured Communication Template
Support has adopted a new template to ensure uniform and transparent communication across all interactions. All cases will now regularly contain 4 primary elements:
- Summary: The key points of the update
- Action Taken: The actions taken thus far to address the issue
- Next Action: Next steps to be taken
- Next Update: Estimate of when the next communication can be expected
